For the Atonement task I decided to re-create part of The DeVito Code from the film swap unit last year. I intentionally chose a portion of the video that I thought was shot very poorly and could be done much better with the new skills that I have learnt over the past year. I have attached the video I recreated below and it starts at the correct point.
My two main aims with this project were to improve the lighting and the sound, and I think that compared to the shots beforehand that this was done very successfully. I wanted to make the subject seem as if they were ‘anonymous’ to make it feel as if has more ashamed of his love for Danny. With the audio, in the original clip we used the RODE Shotgun Mic but as you can see from the bushes around Ollie the day we shot outside was very windy and this ruined the audio so filming within a closed environment helped a lot, we also used a completely different audio solution, and chose to use the RODE WIRELESS GO microphones, I didn’t need them for their wireless capabilities however this was useful not having a wire attached. The sound quality of these microphones is great for the small size. This made sure Ollies voice sounds nice and crisp.
Overall I am very happy with the reproduced version I think it is a great improvement and reflection of the skills I have learnt.
